Benny J. Dodson, 81, of Boxholm, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Boone County Hospital in Boone, Iowa.

A graveside service for Benny will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Pilot Mound Cemetery in Pilot Mound, Iowa, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the cemetery. Benny Joe Dodson, son of Homer and Bessie (Wilburn) Dodson was born on February 21, 1939 in Missouri. On January 26, 1959, Benny married Thelma Graham at Parma, Missouri. The couple resided in the Boxholm and Dayton area since 1968. His loving wife Thelma passed away on October 6, 2000.

Benny worked for many years as a truck driver for the Boxholm Coop and later for Praxair in Duncombe until retiring in 2001. In 2001, Benny married Pat Sundine and the couple resided in Boone. After Pat’s passing in 2018, Benny moved to Boxholm. He enjoyed traveling, gambling at Casinos, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his children, Joe (Deb) Dodson of Boone, Roger (Brenda) Dodson of Boxholm, Cindy Polk of Dayton, Kevin (Robyn) Dodson of Boxholm, Janine (Blaine Hepp) Sigmon of Somers, Mike (Becki) Dodson of Ankeny, Tanya (Ed) Mills of Boxholm, Tim (Anita) Dodson of Dayton; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sisters, Doris (Kenny) Gregg of Parma, MO, June (Garley) Eddings of Lemay, MO; and his brother, Dewayne (Kelly) Dodson of Tacca, Poosa, MO. Benny is also survived by his children from his second marriage, Debra (Rocky) Smith of Phoenix, AZ, Denise (Randy) Nissen of Dayton, Doug (Laura) Sundine of Boone, and Dwain (Jeannie) Sundine of North Liberty.

In addition to his parents, Benny was also preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Dodson, his second wife, Pat Sundine; his grandson, Chase Dodson; and several brothers and sisters.
