Carroll Ott, 76, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton. Steve Satre will officiate. Burial will be in the Dayton Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton.
Carroll Everett Ott was born on March 15, 1935, on a farm near Dayton, Iowa, the son of Emery and Madella (Olson) Ott. He graduated with the Dayton High School class of 1953. Following his education Carroll enlisted in the United States Army and served from March of 1953 until March of 1955, and then served another 6 years in the Army Reserve. On March 7, 1986, Carroll was united in marriage to Kristi Benson at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton. Carroll had worked for nine years in the Webster County ASC office, as a carpenter for Strandberg Construction, and later as a rural mail carrier in the Dayton and Lehigh area. He retired in 1997 due to ill health.
Carroll belonged to Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton.
Survivors include his son, Jason Ott of Ames, Iowa; his brother, LaVerne Ott of Clarion; and several nieces and nephews. His wife Kristi Ott, parents, and three sisters, Darlene and Corrine Ott and Velma Dewey, preceded him in death.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
