Kathy (Huisinga) Wilcox, 70, of Dayton, Iowa, and formerly of Webster City and Marshalltown, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Dayton. Pastor Kay. Christie will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Friday, July 7, 2023, at Carson ~ Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Private family burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Kathren Diane Huisinga was born on October 21, 1952, in Webster City, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred and Alice (Smedley) Huisinga. She graduated with the Webster City High School class of 1971, and furthered her education at Iowa Central Community College earning her Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN). She worked in various settings as a registered nurse.
Kathy was married to Mike Lund of Webster City for 28 years. They were blessed with two daughters, Michelle and Elizabeth.
On July 15, 2001, Kathy married Francis Wilcox, Jr. The couple resided in Marshalltown. From this union she gained four step-children, Lisa (Larry) Dykstra, Linda Hershey, Steven Wilcox, and Laura (Fred) Thomas, and their families. Fran passed away on August 21, 2020. In July of 2021, Kathy moved to Dayton where she could be closer to her family.
Kathy currently attended the Dayton United Methodist Church and is a former member of both Asbury United Methodist Church in Webster City, and the First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown, where she was active in many church activities. She belonged to the Dayton Dreamers, Dayton Library Book Club, and the Dayton United Methodist Church Bible Study. Kathy’s greatest joy was time spent with her grandchildren and family.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was also preceded in death by her husband, Francis Wilcox Jr., and her brother-in-law, Randy Ely.
Survivors include her two daughters, Michelle (Rob) Stapp of Dayton, IA, and Elizabeth (Adrian) Puente of Orland Hills, IL; three grandsons, Logan (Marisa Jepsen) Stapp and Cael Stapp, and Cayden Puente; two sisters, Belinda (Bob) Heinen, and Sandy (Tim) Jondal both of Webster City; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
