LaVerne “Durn” Lindgren, 78, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020, at his home in Ogden.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 24, 2020, at St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden. Visitation will be prior to services, starting at 9:15 a.m., at the Church. LaVerne Oscar Lindgren was born on May 13, 1941, the son of Earl and Gladys (Johnson) Lindgren in Ogden, Iowa.
Durn served his Country in the United States Army and the Iowa Army National Guard during Vietnam. He enlisted in April of 1964, and was honorably discharged in August of 1969.
On September 4, 1965, LaVerne was united in marriage to Carol Jean Launderville at the Catholic Church in Ogden.
Durn started his working career as a welder and later worked at Ogden Municipal Utilities for many years, retiring as Plant Operator.
Durn was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden. His hobbies included stock car racing and later many backyard activities with Jason including gokarts, motorcycles, snowmobiling, and 4-wheelers. Jason & Durn went on to compete at the national level, racing gokarts competitively for many years. In retirement, Durn enjoyed projects in the garage or shop.
Survivors include his son, Jason (Shannon) Lindgren of Manchester, IA; grandchildren, Danika, Jaxon, Tenley, Grace, Luke, and Emma; and his brother, Gary (Donna) Lindgren of Ogden, IA.
LaVerne was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Carol Lindgren on July 7, 2019.
