Agnes F. Mumper, 102, of Lehigh, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the Marian Home and Village in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
A come and go visitation for Agnes will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the Christian Church in Lehigh, Iowa with her memorial service beginning at 3:00 p.m. Inurnment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh.
Agnes Fae Slawson, daughter of Izatus and Elva (Barnes) Slawson was born on October 24, 1920, in Lehigh, Iowa. Agnes graduated from Lehigh High School with the class of 1938. She then attended Iowa State Teacher’s College (U.N.I.) in Cedar Falls where she earned her teaching degree. Following her education, she began teaching at Border Plains School. She continued teaching for over 40 years at Lehigh, Otho, and Roberts Schools.
On November 8, 1945, Agnes was united in marriage to Lawrence Mumper, Sr. in Fort Dodge, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Lawrence Jr., Douglas and Patricia. Agnes lived in the Lehigh and Otho area most of her life.
Agnes was a member of the Christian Church in Lehigh. She enjoyed being active in her church, teaching children to read, and sewing crafts.
In addition to her parents, Agnes was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, Sr; and her son, Douglas; siblings, Alta Slawson Pigman, Eva Slawson Stringer, Harry Slawson, Warren Slawson, Caroline Slawson Stewart, Mary Slawson Laird, Helene Slawson Gilliland, and Elva Slawson Rowley.
Survivors include her son, Lawrence, Jr. (June) Mumper of Dayton; her daughter, Patricia (Ron) Axne of Fort Dodge; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and special nephew, Richard Laird; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
