Annette Elizabeth Peterson

Annette Elizabeth (Moravetz) Peterson, 82, of Boxholm, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at Stratford Specialty Care.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 17, 2020, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. Rev. Rod Meyer will officiate. Burial will be at Lawn Cemetery near Boxholm at a later date. For online obituaries and condolences visit: www.carsonstappfuneralhome.com

Annette was born on September 5, 1937, in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Roy Edgar and Dorothea Ruth (Jones) Moravetz. She graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1955, and went on to receive her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls in 1957. Following her education Annette was a teacher in the communities of Gilman (2nd grade), Dayton (1st & 2nd grade), and Boxholm (2nd grade).

On June 12, 1959, Annette was united in marriage to Kenny Peterson at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden. The couple lived and farmed west of Boxholm.

Annette was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in many Church activities including: singing in the choir, playing piano, and teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She also served as the church secretary for over 30 years. Annette enjoyed antiques, playing piano, time spent with family, and had served as a 4-H Leader for many years. In her youth, Annette loved horses and enjoyed horseback riding.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two stepfathers, one brother, Merlin “Bud” Moravetz, and one sister, Norma Jean Haglund.

Survivors include her husband, Kenny Peterson of Boxholm, IA; two daughters, Anne Smith of Boxholm, IA, and Jolynn Peterson of Boone, IA; three grandchildren, Drew (Paige) Peterson, Logan (Marie) Peterson, and Megan Smith; three great-grandchildren, Riley Peterson, Nash Peterson, and Sawyer Peterson; her sister, JoAnna Guenaga of Silver City, New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be left to Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm.
