Barbara J. Nemechek, 71, of Dayton, Iowa, died surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 27, 2008, at her home.
Barbara's wishes were to be cremated. Visitation will be Saturday, January 3, 2009, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton with a Prayer Service at 2:30 p.m. Hospice Chaplain Rev. Phil Somsen will officiate. Burial of ashes will be held at a later date at McGuire Bend Cemetery, rural Dayton.
Barbara Jean Rollins was born on September 27, 1937, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Dorothy (Kelly) Rollins. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City with the class of 1955. Barb was united in marriage to Richard Nemechek on June 4, 1955, in Stratford, Iowa.
Barb and Richard enjoyed researching genealogy and organized a yearly family reunion where they presented a display for everyone to enjoy. Barb had devoted her entire life to taking care of her family, which was her pride and joy.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Nemechek of Dayton, Iowa; children, Tim (Dawn) Nemechek of Byron, Minnesota, Terri (Brian) Hagge of Dayton, Iowa, Dan (Shari) Nemechek of Farnhamville, Iowa, David (Pam) Nemechek of Otho, Iowa, Holly Zander of Dayton, Iowa, and Darla Nemechek of Boone, Iowa; sisters, Bonnie Greufe and Vona Scott of Webster City, Iowa; and brothers, Donald Rollins Jr. and Terry Rollins of Webster City, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Beverly Sylvester; brother, Bruce Rollins; and two grandsons, Ryan Nemechek and Paul Hagge.
