Barbara Lou Coxe

Barbara L. Coxe, 88, passed away Saturday evening, May 9, 2020, surrounded by family at her home in Dayton, Iowa.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 15, 2020, at Lawn Cemetery in Boxholm, Iowa. Rev. Rod Meyer will officiate.

Barbara Lou Peterson was born on November 10, 1931, in Grant Twsp, rural Boone County, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Vera (Good) Peterson. She graduated with the Boxholm Consolidated High School class of 1949, and later was a licensed cosmetologist.

She married John R. Skoglund, their children are: Chris (Kim) Skoglund of California, Kathleen (Larry) Schiller of Vermont, and Thomas Skoglund, Karen Skoglund, and John (Denise) Skoglund all of Dayton, IA. Grandchildren are Jessica (Byron) Williams, Kate (Joe ) Wood, Jenna Schiller, Justin Skoglund, Eric (Tabatha) Skoglund, Austin (Whitney) Skoglund, and Ronald Skoglund, and fifteen great-grandchildren. John passed away in 1969.

In 1973, Barbara married Dr. John Coxe II. He passed away in 2015. Step-children are John Coxe III (deceased), Janis Coxe of Missouri, Andrew Coxe of Ankeny, IA, Stephen Coxe (deceased), Craig Coxe of Florida, and Bruce (Treasa) Coxe of Ankeny, IA. Eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren.

Left to mourn are her children, siblings, Bonnie Schleif, Jane (Terry) Mohr, Jerry (Donna) Peterson, David Peterson, Vance (Ginger) Peterson, and Martha Peterson, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Wanda, brothers, Gene, Jay, John (Sandi), niece, Andrea, and two husbands.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
