Bernice Hollman

Bernice Hollman, 88, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2012, at the Stratford Nursing & Rehab Center.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 5, 2012, at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Pastor Michael Standfest will officiate. Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be Sunday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton.

Bernice Mary Finck was born on June 26, 1924, on a farm near Clare, Iowa, the daughter of August and Frieda (Keihn) Finck. She was raised on this farm until her family moved to California in 1937. In 1942, the family moved back to Iowa and made their home in Fort Dodge. Bernice graduated with the Fort Dodge High School class of 1943.

On July 25, 1944, Bernice was united in marriage to Meinhard Hollman at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. To this union two sons were born: Ivan and Karl. In 1946, the couple moved to a farm near Burnside. Bernice was a cook at Central Webster High School for 17 years.

Bernice belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church in Dayton. She enjoyed doing volunteer work in her spare time, and was a lifetime member of the DAV Auxiliary.

Among the survivors are her husband of 68 years, Meinhard Hollman of Stratford, Iowa; two sons, Ivan (Pam) Hollman of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Karl (Pat) Hollman of Burnside, Iowa; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Jessica, Brian, Steven, and Emily Hollman, and great-grandson, Max. She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Frieda Finck; brother, Raymond Finck; sister, Dorothy Bargsten; and granddaughter, Valerie Hollman.
