Bertha Schmidt

Bertha E. Schmidt, 92, of Boone, Iowa, and formerly of Ogden passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2012, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at St. John's Catholic Church on Ogden. Father Jim Bruch will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Ogden. Visitation will be Monday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.

Bertha Elizabeth Schmidt was born on January 6, 1920, in Ogden, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Schmitt) Schmidt. She attended schools in the area of her birth.

Bertha held various jobs in the area and worked for several years as a Nurses Aide at the Boone County Hospital. She lived in the Ogden and Boone area her entire life and has resided for several years at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.

Bertha belonged to both Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Boone and St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden, and was active in the choir. She enjoyed crocheting and loved to bake.

Survivors include nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and six sisters.
