Bill E. Lambert, 64, of Dayton, Iowa, died early Friday morning, December 31, 2010, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at the Covenant Church in Lanyon. Pastors Craig Vote, Steve Ward and Mark Murchison will officiate. Burial will be in Linn Cemetery, rural Pilot Mound. Visitation will be Monday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton.
Bill Edward Lambert was born on December 30, 1946, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Harold and Lois (Olson) Lambert. He graduated with the Dayton High School class of 1965, where he was active in basketball. On August 10, 1968, he married Carolyn Burkhart from Pilot Mound; they were married 42 years. To this union, three children were born: Brad, Lori, and Kevin. Bill was a seed dealer for over 45 years and enjoyed selling seed to local farmers. He lived and farmed in the Dayton area all his life.
Bill was baptized, confirmed, and married in the Lanyon Covenant Church. He was an active member and deacon of the Harcourt Covenant Church where he enjoyed fellowship and services for the last 30 years. He served as a member of the Dayton Celebration Committee for several years. Bill enjoyed keeping in touch with his '65 classmates through the years and attended their 45th class reunion last May. His life revolved around planting and harvesting crops on the farm. He was a big fan of John Deere equipment. Bill really enjoyed entertaining the Lamberts at a big family reunion on his home place in 2008. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Cari, son Brad (Angie), Melanie and Amanda Lambert of Dayton, Iowa, daughter Lori (Todd) Bryce, Austin, Caleb, and Nicholas Welch of Hartford, Iowa, and son Kevin (Sara) Joel, Mackenzie, Alex Lambert of Dayton, Iowa. He is survived as well by his parents Harold and Lois Lambert of Dayton, twin brother Bruce (Joan) of Dayton, brother Brian (Kathy) of Dayton, and sister Sandi (Steve) Ward of Ames, Iowa. His father-in-law John (Orma) Burkhart of Pilot Mound and brother-in law Ron Burkhart of Ames also survive him. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Dorothy Burkhart in 1999.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
