Carol Ann Olson went home to be with the Lord on August 29, 2024. She was reunited with her infant son, Steven Dean Olson, her parents, and five siblings. She peacefully passed away at Espirit Whispering Ridge memory care unit in Omaha, NE.
Carol was born to Raymond Luther Jones and Esther Ione (Hitchcock) Jones-Porter on August 28, 1939 at their home in Rinard, Iowa. She was the third of nine children. Carol was preceded in death by both parents, an unnamed infant sibling, her sisters Eva Rae Jones and Shirley Koslowski, her brothers Thomas Jones and Richard Jones, and Robert Olson, father to her children Paula, Steven, Kimberly, and Curtis.
Carol attended Dayton High School, graduating in 1956, followed by college studies with emphasis in accounting and business. She applied her entrepreneurial experience as owner of Olson’s Wedding Center in Fort Dodge until 1984. Carol’s passion to help others was realized in the medical supply industry in both Fort Dodge and Omaha thru 2004. She then became an independent insurance agent specializing in senior market until her retirement in 2016.
Carol was a member of the United Ostomy Association (Omaha), Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority (Omaha), and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority (Fort Dodge). She sought spiritual fellowship at St Andrews United Methodist Church (Omaha). Being a life-long crafter, seamstress, and florist, Carol blessed people with many handmade gifts and floral arrangements. Her love of family was always evident and her generous nature made for many lasting friendships over the years.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her three children; Paula and David Olson of Branson West, MO, Kimberly and Thomas Guerra of Montgomery, TX, and Curtis Olson of Omaha, NE, five grandchildren; Anthony and Lindsey Olson, Michael and Danielle Olson, Jessica and Wolfgang Minsky, Mitchell Guerra, and Christopher Guerra, five great grandchildren; Grady Olson, Reese Olson, Camden Olson, Barrett Olson, and Nicholas Minsky; sister Nancy and Ronald Johnson of Rake, IA, brother Leroy Jones of Dayton, IA, and sister Charlotte Tjelle of Dayton, IA, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom all feel blessed to call Carol Ann Olson family.
A celebration of Carol Ann Olson’s life will be held at the St Andrews United Methodist Church in Omaha, NE on Saturday, September 14, 2024 beginning at 3 pm.
A separate celebration of Carol Ann Olson’s life will be held at the United Methodist Church in Dayton, IA on Sunday, September 15 beginning at 1:30 pm followed by interment at Low Cemetery in Dayton, IA.
