Carolyn A. Baker, 66, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017, surrounded by family at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the Christian Church in Lehigh. Pastor Richard Laird will officiate. Burial will be at McGuire Bend Cemetery, rural Dayton. Carolyn Ann Long was born on January 3, 1951, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Duane "Todd" and Delores "Nadeane" (Wertz) Long. She attended school in Lehigh and Central Webster High School, later obtaining her G.E.D.

Following her education, Carolyn was married to Tom Franklin and to this union one son, Tom was born. Later, she married Craig Ziemke and their marriage was blessed with two sons, Andrew and Todd. On October 16, 1998, Carolyn was united in marriage to Dale Baker in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Carolyn held various jobs over her career including Donnely Marketing Inc. in Nevada, Iowa, Maytag in Newton, Monfort Pork/J.B.S. in Marshalltown, and finally Younkers in Marshalltown where she worked until retiring due to ill health in 2010.

Carolyn was known as a very generous and giving person. Her hobbies included playing penny bingo, and making jewelry and crafts, which she loved giving to friends and family.

Survivors include her husband, Dale Baker of Marshalltown, Iowa; sons, Tom Franklin of Marshalltown, Iowa, Andrew (Nicole Harksen) Ziemke also of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Todd (Maggie) Ziemke of Norwalk, Iowa; granddaughters, Madeline, and Lucy due in April of this year; two sisters, Deloris (Delbert) Nelsen of Lehigh, Iowa, and Sonya (Larry) Kelley of Lehigh, Iowa; step siblings Mark (Linda) Plahn of Des Moines, Iowa; and Clay (Jane) Plahn of LaSalle, Colorado, and Lynn (Rod) Engman of Lehi, Utah.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
