Carroll H. Widen, 81, of Harcourt, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at UnityPointHealth – Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

A celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 19, 2022, at the United Methodist Church in Harcourt with Pastor Kay. Christie officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services, starting at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at a later date at Lost Grove Cemetery near Harcourt. Carroll Harry Widen was born on September 20, 1940, in Webster County, Iowa, the son of Harry and Grace (Nelson) Widen. Carroll was a graduate of Harcourt High School and furthered his education at I.C.C.C. in Fort Dodge. Carroll was gifted athletically and won state titles in both discus and shotput. He also played baseball and basketball in addition to track & field.

On June 13, 1964, Carroll was united in marriage to Twila Trueblood at the United Methodist Church in Lehigh. He worked at Land O’ Lakes in Fort Dodge for over 35 years, and also worked at OK Hardware in Fort Dodge, and finally at Engquist Lumber in Harcourt until retiring.

Carroll’s hobbies included buying & selling antiques and collectibles as well as purchasing cars and fixing them up.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Scott Aaron Widen at birth, his daughter, Tamara DeVan, and his brother, Kenneth Widen.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Twila Widen of Harcourt, Iowa; one son, Jeff (Martha) Widen of Nevada, Iowa; son-in-law, Michael DeVan of Ames, Iowa; four grandsons, Jared (Jordyn) DeVan, Brady DeVan, Isaiah DeVan, and Noah Widen; three great grandchildren; and many other friends and relatives.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
