Catherine E. Gard

Catherine E. Gard, 86, of Ogden, died Saturday, April 09, 2011, at the Madrid Home.

Her body has been cremated and a private family burial will be held at a later date.
Carson - Stapp Funeral Homes in Ogden is in charge of arrangements.

Catherine E. Gard was born on February 5, 1925, in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Herbert and Flossie (Davenport) Wilcox.

She was united in marriage to Lyle E. Gard on December 5, 1944, in Bethany, Missouri. Following their marriage the couple farmed in Cass County, Iowa. In the early 1950's, they moved to Omaha, Nebraska. In 1966 the couple returned to Iowa, and lived in both Grand Junction and Ogden before moving to a farm west of Pilot Mound in 1988.

Gardening, canning vegetable, and working with the farm animals were some of the things Catherine enjoyed doing.

Catherine is survived by son, Dale and his wife Doris Gard of Ogden, Iowa; three daughters, Elaine and her husband Paul Ellis of Ogden, Iowa, Clarene Cates of Iowa, and Cindy of Perry, Iowa; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley and Silvia. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lyle in 2001; grandson, Gary Ellis; three sisters, Olive, Jane and Vera.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
