Charlene "Char" Thompson, 69, of Ames, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at the Boone County Hospital.
Charlene has been cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. Pastor Wade Brandt will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Visitation will be Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the Church. Charlene Kay Peters was born on November 30, 1943, in Ogden, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Elsie (Swanson) Peters. Charlene graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1962. On December 11, 1993, she was united in marriage to Donald Thompson. She was employed by the City of Ames for 38 years in the Information Technology Division. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Amy (Larry) Edel of Colo; two step grandsons, Logan (Kate), and Colby Edel; one brother, Larry Peters of Ogden; two nephews, Craig (Teresa) Davenport of Boone and CalLee (Heather Burke) Davenport of Portland, Oregon; two sisters-in-law, Helen Overland of Ames and Shirley (Gary) Armann of Weslaco, Texas; along with her husbands nieces and nephews, plus many close cousins and friends of both her and her husband.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Thompson on June 29, 2010; her parents; a sister, Cynthia Muench; a niece, Gina Davenport; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Wells.
Memorials contributions may be left to Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames.
