Charles "Chick" Lawler, 82, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2010, at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden. Father Larry McCarty will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.
Charles Bernard Lawler was born on February 28, 1928, in rural Ogden, Iowa, the son of Philip and Ursula (Lentz) Lawler. He graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1945. On June 4, 1952, Chick was united in marriage to Susie Judge at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Boone. The couple established their home on the family farm south of Ogden where they lived and farmed for many years. Chick and Susie moved into Ogden in 1998. Chick retired from farming in 2008, at the age of 80.
Chick was a lifelong member of St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden where he participated in the Knights of Columbus and also served as a Church Director for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Susie Lawler; one son, Steve (Jane) Lawler of Ogden, Iowa; three daughters, Laurie (Ed) Finn of Bettendorf, Iowa, Amy (Terry) Swanson of Johnston, Iowa, and Jenni (Kevin) Paulsen of Jefferson, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, Katherine (Craig) Ament, Elizabeth, Alison, and Jackie Lawler, Emily, Matthew, and Zachary Finn, Brent and Rachel Swanson, and Matthew and Lindsey Paulsen; one sister, Virgene Nation of Grand Junction, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Leo (Jackie) Lawler, sister and brother-in-law, Grace (Pat) Garland, and sister, Vera Lawler.
