Colin Murphy, 23, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016, in Lehigh.
Colin has been cremated. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the United Methodist Church in Dayton. Msgr. Kevin McCoy will officiate. Burial will be at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be Friday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Church. Colin James Murphy was born on August 2, 1992, in Boone, Iowa, the son of Bob and Judy Murphy. He graduated with the Southeast Webster-Grand High School class of 2011. Colin was involved in many school activities including 4-H, F.F.A., and various school athletics. Following high school he attended D.M.A.C.C.
Colin had worked at JRG Feed & Supply, Brock Services/Koch Fertilizer, Poet Ethanol, and had served as a Reserve Police Officer with the Dayton Police Department. He was currently employed as a mechanic at Silgan Industries in Fort Dodge.
Colin belonged to Christ the King Catholic Church in Dayton. He served on the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department, enjoyed helping out with Dayton Rodeo & Celebration, was active in the Webster County Sheep Project, and was an active supporter of the Dayton Community. Colin was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time on the family farm.
Colin is survived by his father, Bob Murphy of Dayton, Iowa; his sister, Michelle (Josh) Anderson and their children, Ethan and Claire of Dayton, Iowa; two brothers, Jon (Megan) Christie and their children, Kennedy and Charles of Ogden, Iowa, and Derek (Linsey) Christie and their children, Harper and Quinn of Dayton, Iowa; grandmothers, Margaret Kunkel of Kanawha, Iowa, and Charlotte Christie of Klemme, Iowa; and many aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two unborn brothers, his mother, Judy Murphy in 2004, and grandparents.
