Daryl Linn Vangilder

Daryl L. VanGilder, 71, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at UnityPoint Health ~ Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Daryl’s wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Carson ~ Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Burial will be at McGuire Bend Cemetery, rural Dayton, at a later date with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Peterson Post #323 American Legion. Daryl Linn VanGilder was born on July 17, 1951, in Warren, Ohio, the son of Howard and Shirley (Linn) Vangilder.

Daryl was a graduate of the Dayton High School. He served his country in the United States Army for nine years until his honorable discharge. He worked at Dayton Farm Drainage and later at Electrical Materials in Fort Dodge for over 15 years until his retirement.

Daryl was united in marriage to Carol Roseke in Las Vegas and the couple made their home in Dayton.

Daryl enjoyed fishing and always looked forward to the annual VanGilder family fishing trip on the English River in Ontario, Canada.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Karin VanGilder and Donna Smith, brother, Kevin VanGilder, and grandparents, Elsie and Leslie Linn.

Survivors include his wife, Carol VanGilder of Dayton, Iowa; daughter, Amy (Mike Ziems), son, Luke VanGilder; six grandchildren, Shayna, Landon, Kegan, Halle, Owen, Ezmae, and Emarie; two brothers, Les (Diana) Vangilder of Dayton, Iowa, and Keith (Linda) Vangilder of Carroll, Iowa; two sisters, Linda Nelson of Lakefield, Minnesota, Faye VanGilder of Dayton, Iowa; brother-in-law, Mike Smith of Junction City, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.
