David "Buzz" Curry

David "Buzz" Curry, 77, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 22, 2013, at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. Chaplain Katherine Werner will officiate. Burial will be at the Pilot Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. David O. Curry was born on September 29, 1936, in Ogden, Iowa, the son of Orville and Edith (Zunkel) Curry. He graduated with the Pilot Mound High School class of 1955. Following his education, Buzz served his country in the United States Navy from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1959.

On August 12, 1972, David was united in marriage to Marlys Butler at Park Avenue Presbyterian Church in Des Moines. Buzz and Marlys lived and farmed South of Pilot Mound for many years until retiring in 2004, and moving into Ogden.

Buzz was known for his great sense of humor. He belonged to the Groom - Kimsey American Legion Post #16.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Marlys Curry of Ogden, Iowa; three children, Maria (Roger) McFarland of Story City, Iowa, Joe (Rose) Soda of Waukee, Iowa, and Jennifer (Scott) Curry-Gaskill of West Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren; one sister, Julee (Cy) Hornberg of Ogden, Iowa; and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
