David Kling, 94, of Fort Dodge, died December 29, 2010, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 3, 2010, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burnside with the Rev. Julian Swanson officiating. Burial will be at the Dayton Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the Celebration Center at Friendship Haven. Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton is in charge of the arrangements.
David is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Deborah Kling of Muscatine, Iowa; two grandchildren, Amy and Brian; and a sister, Ruth Kling. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma, parents; Otto and Annie, brothers and sisters, Robert Kling, Helga Olson, Inez Challstrom, Harold Kling, and his twin brother Donald Kling.
David graduated from Burnside High School in 1936 and worked on his parent's farm. He farmed with his brother and sister until retirement. David also sold Moorman Feeds and Cornelius Seed Corn.
On November 27, 1953, David was united in marriage to Velma Nelson. They lived in the home he built in Harcourt. He belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burnside and was a member of Svenska Klubben. He enjoyed farming, wood working, playing cards, and entertaining family and friends.
