David Dwight Sebring

David D. Sebring, 74, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 24, 2015, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 28, 2015, with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Carson – Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2015, at the Pilot Mound Cemetery. Pastor Alaire Willits will officiate. David Dwight Sebring was born on August 31, 1940, in Boone, Iowa, the son of Frank and Mary (Parrish) Sebring. He attended country school and graduated from Boone High School class of 1958.

In October 3, 1960, Dave was united in marriage to Cheryl Long. The couple later divorced.

Dave worked for many years at Bridgestone/Firestone until his disability due to health in 1991. He was a Master member of the Mirza Masonic Lodge, Fez B Club, Boone County Shrine, Scottish Rite Consistory, and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine Club. He was a member of the Pilot Mound United Methodist Church, and prior to his illness was very active in the Pilot Mound Community and served in many roles.

Dave has resided at the Eastern Star Masonic Home since 2005. Dave enjoyed making others smile. He was known for sitting on the benches at Eastern Star and greeting people as they passed by.

Survivors include two daughters, Melody (Mike) Duncan of Boone, Iowa, and Tamara (Jeff) Lucas of Luling, Texas; grandchildren, Jessica (Kevin) Hicks, Josh (Rachel) Duncan, Lyndsey Lucas, Nathan Lucas, and Meredith (Brandon) Gay; great grandchildren, Brylie Hicks, Addyson Hicks, Emma Duncan, Alexa Gay, and Lucas Gay; sisters, Phyllis George, Carol (Jim) Seigler, Janice Carlson, MaryEllen (Darrell) Hubby, and Nancy (Ray) Carpenter; brothers, Charles (Jackie) Sebring and Dale Sebring; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents, brothers, Richard Sebring and Jerald Sebring, and sister-in-law, Ruth Sebring.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
