David A. LeValley

d. May 18, 2024

Santa Clarita, California

David Alan LeValley, 76, of Santa Clarita, California died on May 18, 2024, of a cardiac arrest while on vacation in Italy with his wife, Chrisanna (Chris). David was a native of Dayton, Iowa and a 1966 graduate of Dayton High School.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 31, at the Christ the King Catholic Cemetery in Dayton, followed by a luncheon at the Dayton Community Center. Msgr. Kevin McCoy of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fort Dodge will preside.

Although he was a proud Iowan, David lived most of his adult life in California, where he worked in facilities and construction management. In San Francisco, he was manager of facilities for I. Magnin & Company, a high-end department store chain. Later, in the Los Angeles area, he worked as a cost analyst and project manager for construction companies. Major projects which he managed included sound stages for Sony Pictures, the Delta Airlines terminal at Los Angeles International Airport, and multiple projects converting older and historic buildings into modern commercial facilities. He retired in 2010 from Swinerton, one of the largest builders in the U.S.

He married Chrisanna Leigh Barnes Izquierdo of San Diego, California on August 4, 2001.

David loved his family, reading, traveling, golf, wood working and a good cigar. He also enjoyed returning to Iowa to attend reunions and other events, and to play golf at the Dayton Country Club, where he had learned the game at a young age.

His smile came easily, and he loved a good joke whether hearing it or telling it. He was always full of stories, sang happy birthday like he was in the Sunday choir at church, and was the best “grumpy grandpa” to his two grandchildren. As his younger brother, Paul, wrote in a social media post following his death, “It was extremely hard NOT to love him. David is going to be missed by everyone who knew him.”

David is survived by his wife, Chris, of Santa Clarita, CA; a son, Eric (Carmen), of Barcelona, Spain; stepchildren Kristopher Izquierdo (Vanessa) of Nampa ID; Jennifer Gray (Michael) grandchildren Aidan and Emma of Santa Clarita CA; a sister, Sandra (Rex) Kragh, of Seattle, WA; brothers Joseph LeValley (Jane) of Waukee, Iowa, and Paul LeValley of Staunton, VA; and ten nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Patricia LeValley of Dayton, Iowa; a sister, Janet Kay LeValley; and a nephew, Rex Bradley Kragh III.

Memorials may be given to the David LeValley Memorial Fund, c/o Carson-Stapp Funeral Home, 406 3rd Street NE, Dayton, IA 50530, www.carsonstappfuneralhome.com.
