David Willis

May 29, 1938 — July 19, 2012

Dave Willis, 74, of Ogden, Iowa, and formerly of La Pine, Oregon, went peacefully to be in the presence of the Lord early Thursday morning July 19, 2012, at the Ogden Manor surrounded by his family

Dave's wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Waters Edge Church in Ogden. Pastor Rick Summerhays will officiate. Burial will be at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, rural Boxholm. Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden assisted with the arrangements.

David Leon Willis was born on May 29, 1938, the son of Harry and Lois (Hulbert) Willis. He graduated with the John Dewey Continuation High School class of 1958, and furthered his education in Southern Oregon, graduating with a two year degree in accounting.

On July 20, 1960, Dave was united in marriage to Deloris "Rose" Britter at the United Presbyterian Church in North Long Beach, California.

Dave and Rose lived in Southern California where Dave was employed as an Electronic Inspector by Autonetics, which was involved in NASA's Apollo 11 first manned mission to land on the Moon. Dave later managed a Radio Shack store and finally worked for the State of Oregon in Air Quality Control until retiring due to disability in the mid 1990's

Dave previously attended the Calvary Chapel of La Pine, Oregon, and currently attended Waters Edge in Ogden.

Among the survivors are his wife of 51 years, Rose Willis of Ogden, Iowa; children, Cindy Ella McJunkin (friend George) of Medford, Oregon, David Lee (Stacie) Willis of La Pine, Oregon, Andrew Linn (Lynne) Willis of Gold Hill, Oregon, and Suzie Marie (Terry) Will of Ogden, Iowa; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Gary (Allie Mae) Willis of Southern, California; and his beloved golden lab, Sugar. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Dustin Willis.

Memorials may be left to Waters Edge Church, 341 West Walnut St., Ogden, Iowa 50212.
