Delbert Nelsen

Delbert L. Nelsen, 83, of Lehigh, Iowa passed away suddenly on Friday, March 22, 2024, at his home.

A come and go Celebration of Life for Delbert will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the Lehigh Community Center, Lehigh, Iowa. Delbert Lawrence Nelsen was born on March 4, 1941, in Greene County, Iowa, the son of Christian and Francis (Mitchell) Nelsen. He graduated with the Dana High School class of 1959.

On July 16, 1966, Delbert was united in marriage to Deloris Louise Long at the Christian Church in Lehigh. They were blessed with one daughter, Wendy.

Delbert worked in quality control at Georgia Pacific in Fort Dodge from 1966 until retiring in 1996.

Delbert served on the Board of Directors of the Lehigh Valley Credit Union and enjoyed hunting, fishing, weekly trips to the Wild Rose Casino in Jefferson, and traveling with his wife and longtime friends, Denny and Pat Menke.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Brian Keenan, and siblings, Beverly VanGundy, Jim Nelsen, Reese Nelsen, Carolyn Weise, and Marlin Nelsen.

Survivors include his wife, Deloris Nelsen of Lehigh, IA; one daughter, Wendy Keenan of Lehigh, IA; two grandsons, Sean Keenan of Lehigh, IA, and Chris Gerard of Fort Dodge, IA; his sister, Diane Deaver of Grand Junction, IA; one brother, Carl Nelsen of Grand Junction, IA; sister-in-law, Sonya (Larry) Kelley of Lehigh, IA; as well as many nieces and nephews.
