DeWayne "Curly" Teter, 81, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.
Visitation will be Monday, March 14, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at St. Johns Catholic Church in Ogden. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at St. John's Catholic Church. Father James Bruch will officiate. Cremation will follow services and private family burial will be at a later date at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Ogden. DeWayne Merle Teter was born on November 3, 1934, near Coon Rapids, Iowa, the son of Berthal and Opal (Trucks) Teter. He attended Orange Township Country School #5, rural Coon Rapids.
On June 23, 1962, DeWayne was united in marriage to Rose DeCoteau at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Belcourt, North Dakota. Curly and Rose lived in North Dakota, Oklahoma, and have resided in Ogden since the early 1970's.
Curly worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator at Hallett Construction Company in Boone for 40+ years until retiring.
Curly was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Morris Teter, and two sisters, Darlene Wilson, and Patricia Nielsen.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Teter of Ogden, Iowa; three sons, Merle (Debbie) Teter of Georgetown, Pennsylvania, Clarence "Junior" Teter, and Shane (Buffy Nigro) Teter both of Ogden, Iowa; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Bradley, Masyn, Jordy, Courtney, Chelsea, Amanda, Beau, Brynlee, Ashley, Kylie, Owen, Jacob, Zachery, Riley, Danielle "Nelly", Shelby, Jaxon, Aaron, and Dyani; three brothers, Kenneth (Gladys) Teter of Coon Rapids, Iowa, Gene Teter of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Dick (Fabby) Teter of Arroyo, New Mexico; three sisters, Donna Bylund of Avoca, Iowa, Sharon Chrissey of Ottumwa, Iowa, and JoAnn Knowles of Auburn, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
