Dixie McClure

Dixie C. McClure, 85, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton.

Dixie Colleen Davenport was born on May 3, 1939, in Chillicothe, Missouri, the daughter of Floyd and Eva (Cooper) Davenport. She graduated with the Chillicothe High School class of 1956.

On August 26, 1961, Dixie was united in marriage to Daryl Wright McClure at the Presbyterian Church in Chula. The couple moved to Dayton in the early 1960’s, where Dayrel taught school and Dixie kept busy as a stay-at-home mom. Dayrel passed away on January 1, 2011, in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Dixie was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Dayton. She loved to feed and watch the birds, flower gardening, and yardwork.

In addition to her parents, Dixie is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Dayrel McClure, and her brother, Donald Gene Davenport who passed away in 1938 at the age of three.

Survivors include her son, Kevin (Sonia) McClure of Johnston, Iowa; and several other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
