Donald "Donnie" Johnson

Donald "Donnie" Johnson, 86, of Dayton, Iowa and formerly of Lehigh passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at his home in Dayton.



Funeral services will be held 10:30, Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at the United Methodist Church in Dayton. Pastor Michael Standfest will officiate. Donald Dee Johnson was born on May 13, 1932, in Lehigh, Iowa, the son of Edgar and Olive (Echelberger) Johnson. He graduated with the Lehigh High School class of 1949.



On June 9, 1956, Don was united in marriage to Joyce Ann Heitkamp at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dayton. They were blessed with three daughters: Dee, Julie, and Jennifer.



Donnie worked at Hormel Foods in Fort Dodge for 32 years, at the Dayton Golf & Country Club for 16 years, and finally at Briggs Woods Golf Course in Webster City for the next 16 years until retiring.



He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Dayton. Donnie and Joyce enjoyed traveling and over the years took many trips to Missouri and Arkansas with friends.



Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Joyce Johnson of Dayton, IA; two daughters, Dee Tubbs of Dayton, IA, Julie (Phil) Cooney of Duncombe, IA; five grandchildren, Vanessa (Daven) Glaspie, Jesse (Sydney) Johnson, Rebecca Tubbs, Derek Cooney, Rhaea Ramsey, and Carter Cooney; five great grandchildren, Bianca Glaspie, Evelynne Glaspie, Forrest Nelson, Hudson Cooney, and Wesley Summers; and many nieces and nephews.



His parents, daughter, Jennifer in infancy, two brothers, Robert Johnson and Raymond Johnson, and one sister, Lorraine Johnson, preceded him in death.



Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
