Donald Sr. Huntley

Donald E. Huntley Sr., 81, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Don's wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2015, at the Leonard Good Community Center, 114 SW 8th St., in Ogden. Pastor Bruce Thomas will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Community Center. Donald Eugene Huntley Sr. was born on August 23, 1934, in Ashland, Wisconsin, the son of Harry and Esther (Harrington) Huntley.

On August 27, 1952, Don was united in marriage to Delilah "Dee" Heck in Bethany, Missouri. To this marriage five children were born: Debbi, Don, Dave, Darren, and Dustine.

Don retired from Osmundson's Manufacturing in Perry in the late 1970's after 25 years of service. He then pursued other opportunities he enjoyed such as driving truck for D.A. Wilson and Land O' Lakes, ran a small ice cream shop in Ogden, and worked at CDS Global in Boone. He also worked at the Boone County 4-H camp, from which he retired.

Don's passion in life included playing in Country-Western bands with his friends, and singing & playing drums. He thoroughly enjoyed his grandkids and attending their extra curricular activities. Nothing made him more happy or brought him more joy than his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Among the survivors are his wife, Delilah "Dee" Huntley of Ogden, Iowa; five children, Debbi Huffman, Don Huntley Jr., David (Kit) Huntley, and Darren (Teresa) Huntley all of Ogden, Iowa, and Dustine (Mike) Peterson of Ogden, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Derek (Kerry) Wirtz, Dani (Josh) Sanders, Loni Huntley, Jessi (Matt) Good, Jim Williams, Kris (Joe) Elsberry, Ashley Vaughn, Whitney (David) Schlicht, Justin (Mackenzie McDowell) Peterson, and Casey Peterson; 19 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Esther Huntley, and his mother and father-in-law, Alvin and Lelia Heck, two sisters and one brother.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
