Doral Mullins, 89, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, July 9, 2018, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames from respiratory failure.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Carson ~ Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. Pastor Evelyn Lewiston will officiate. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Doral was born June 6, 1929 in Unionville, Missouri to T. Sherman and Edith (Abbott) Mullins, the nineth of twelve children. He graduated from Exline High School in 1948.
In March, 1951 he was drafted into the United States Army. He trained at Camp Atterbury, Indiana. During the Korean War, he was a heavy mortar artillery specialist, stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged February 20, 1953.
On June 26, 1955 Doral married Marolyn King in Centerville, IA. Their 63-year marriage was blessed with six children.
The couple moved to Ogden in 1980. Doral retired from the Ogden Community Schools in 1994, but continued to work as a school crossing guard until 2013.
Doral is survived by his wife, Marolyn; children: Denise (Brice) Alsteen of Manitowoc, WI, Doralene (Mahmoud) Abdel-Halim of Ogden, Thomas Mullins of Corvallis, OR, Brenda Mullins of Ogden, Tim (Nikki) Mullins of Boone, Balinda (Perry) Ellsworth of Ames; grandchildren: Whitney Alsteen of Madison, WI, Chad (Stephanie) Alsteen of San Diego, CA, Shelbey Ellsworth of Ames, Alex Mullins of Boone, Hassan Abdel-Halim of Ogden, Devin Ellsworth of Ames, William Mullins, Connor Mullins and Ian Mullins all of Corvallis, OR; one brother, Bill Mullins of Hannibal, MO and one sister, Maxine Hager of Ogden and many nieces and nephews.
Doral is proceeded in death by his parents, four sisters and five brothers.
