Doris Roosa

Doris J. Roosa, 92, of Lehigh, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Bickford Senior Living in Fort Dodge.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the United Methodist Church in Lehigh. Pastor Philip Berger will officiate. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh. Doris Jane Pohl was born on August 30, 1931, in Rinard, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Hilda (Green) Pohl. She graduated with the Rinard High School class of 1949.

On June 9, 1957, Doris was united in marriage to Donald Lyle Roosa at the Rinard Methodist Church. The couple established their home on a farm north of Lehigh where they raised six children. Doris was employed as an operator at the Fort Dodge Telephone Office and later worked at Globe Union/Central Lab until her retirement.

Doris belonged to the United Methodist Church in Lehigh and the Lehigh Women’s Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Hilda Pohl, her husband, Donald Roosa, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lyle & Inza Roosa, two brothers, Frank (Bernita) Pohl and Donald Pohl, and sister-in-law, Joan (Art) Dilges.

Survivors include six children, Jim (Shirley) Roosa of Fremont, IN, Janet (Alan) Clough of Gowrie, IA, Susan (Ken) Jones of Nevada, IA, Karen (Danny) Hansen of Dayton, IA, Donna (Marshall) Lambert of Paton, IA, and John (Julie) Roosa of Boone, IA; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Dean (Carol) Roosa of Ames, IA.

Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.
