Dorothy Lucille Duff

Dorothy Lucille Leach Duff, age 91, of Ogden, Iowa passed away at the Accura Health Care Center of Ogden, Iowa on Thursday, February 27, 2020.

A celebration of life service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021 at the United Methodist Church in Lamoni, Iowa, with visitation beginning at the church at 5:30 p.m. A private family interment will be held at a later date at Mount Zion Cemetery, Prescott, Iowa. Dorothy was born to Grace Elsie (Eberly) Leach and Alvin Edgar Leach on November 12, 1928. She has two brothers Donald Leach and Jerry Leach of Lincoln, Nebraska. Dorothy had 6 children: Gail Duff (Tammi) of Webster City, Iowa; Gerald Duff (Margaret) of Ogden, Iowa; Rodney Duff (Susan) of Hot Springs, South Dakota; Ricky Duff; Linda Duff Nichols (Ethan) of Catlin, Illinois; and Steven Duff. Dorothy was the grandmother of 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, as well as 6 nieces and nephews.

Dorothy got her teaching degree and taught in a one room school house for only a year. She then met and married Leland Duff. Dorothy and her children spent their school years in Lamoni, Iowa. Dorothy remained in Lamoni after her children grew up. She was a devout Christian and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lamoni.

Dorothy was a member of the Daughters of the America Revolution and received a Good Citizenship Certificate (April 1947). She also won the Women’s Division of the Board of Missions of the United Methodist Church a special membership in the Woman’s Society of Christian Service (September 12, 1972).

Dorothy worked as a dietary aide and a cook at the Lamoni Manor nursing home for 25 years in Lamoni, Iowa. She had also received her Nurses Aide certificate from Southwestern Community College in 1974. She also worked at the Lamoni Welcome Center for 10 years.

Dorothy’s kind heart, gentle ways, and dedicated work ethic will keep her in the memories and hearts of so many. She was a member of many clubs and had a tight circle of friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, son Steven Duff, son Ricky Duff, grandson Danny Duff, step-great grandson Payton Glynn, and daughter in law Becky Renfrow-Duff, daughter in law Debbie Duff, sister in law Carol Leach, and sister in law Mig Leach.
