Duane E. Greene, 77, of Dayton, Iowa, and formerly of Humboldt, stepped into glory on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Harlingen Medical Center, in Harlingen, Texas.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Mission Community Church in Harcourt. Pastor Ernest Almstaden will officiate. Visitation will be prior to services at the church, starting at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Humboldt. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Sathers - Odgaard V.F.W. & American Legion.

Duane Evans Greene was born on May 24, 1945, in Humboldt, Iowa, the son of William and Monna (Yocum) Greene. He graduated with the Humboldt High School class of
1963. Following high school he attended Morningside College and was later drafted into the US Army and served his country during Vietnam. He married Darlene Goetsch and had two children Angela and Pamela. They made their life in Humboldt, Iowa where Duane worked as a telephone technician at Ma Bell and Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 38 years until retiring.
On August 5, 2005, Duane was united in marriage to Cindy Grettenberg at Dolliver State Park and gained four bonus daughters. Greene Acres Lawn Service was his second career with his sweet wife Cindy, for the next 18 years. Duane honored his parents, loved his LORD, family, his pets Ziva & Abby and this great country. Duane and Cindy escaped 15 cold, Iowa winters to warm, sunny South Padre Island, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Greene of Dayton, Iowa; two daughters, Angie Hopkins (Kevin) and Pam (Jeff) Johnson; four bonus daughters, Mindi (Preston) Sandstrom, Stefanie (Geoff) Barton, Darci (Kyle) Bangert, and Wendi (Matt) Nau; and 15 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Shari Pflibsen and Nadene Blanchard, and brother Garth Greene (infant).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
