Duane Leslie Schmoker

Duane L. Schmoker, 90, of Lehigh, Iowa, passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Funeral services for Duane will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2021 at Friendship Haven Celebration Center in Fort Dodge. Burial will be held at 12:15 p.m. on Monday at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh with Graveside Military Rites accorded by the V.F.W. Post #1856 of Fort Dodge. A visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton and 1 hour prior to services on Monday.

Duane Leslie Schmoker, son of Leslie and Lottie (Ruby) Schmoker was born on July 15, 1931 in Colfax Township north of Duncombe, Iowa. Duane attended schools in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge High School.

On December 11, 1956, Duane married Audrey Widick at the United Methodist Church in Lehigh. Duane worked for over 40 years at Land O Lakes in Fort Dodge, retiring in 1994.

Duane was a very accomplished woodworker and carpenter. When he was a senior in high school, he built a cabin on 100 feet of lake front property at Twin Lakes. He also built the family home in Lehigh. Duane loved Polka Dancing and spent many years at various places including Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Humboldt dancing up to 4 nights a week.

Survivors include his daughters, Margie (Joe) Fleming of Lehigh, IA, Ann Marie Marsh; son, Don (Lien) Schmoker of Fort Walton Beach, FL; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, his longtime companion, Darlene Hay; and his daughter-in-law, Sue Schmoker.

In addition to his parents, Duane was also preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Schmoker; son, Denny Schmoker; his sister, Dorothy Rusher; and his brother-in-law, Delbert Rusher.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
