Earl Jacob Schreier, 82, passed away on May 27, 2010, at his home in Harcourt, surrounded by his loving and caring children.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Dayton, Iowa, on Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Burial will be a St. Thomas Cemetery in Manson, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 31, 2010, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton.
Earl Schreier was born on January 4, 1928, in Manson, Iowa, the son of Jacob and Rose (Lang) Schreier. Earl attended school in rural Manson. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson.
Earl was united in marriage to Marjorie Lunnette Olson on June 19, 1954, in Jackson, Minnesota. Their union was blessed with five children, John, Pam, Nancy, Terry and Dan. They resided in the Manson area for two years where Earl farmed and in 1956, they moved to the Burnside area where he farmed as well. He also worked at the Fort Dodge Packing Company/Iowa Beef Processors for 25 years. After retiring in 1992, the couple moved to Harcourt. Marjorie passed away on October 21, 1999.
Earl was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Dayton, Iowa. He was a past member of Isaac Walton and the Elks Lodge in Fort Dodge, a past member and president of the Lion's Club in Lehigh and served as a 4-H leader in Burnside. Earl enjoyed spending time with family and friends, his annual fishing trips to Canada, spending his winters in Mesa, Arizona, traveling and playing cards. He was an extraordinary man, an amazing, kind, patient and giving Dad, a dedicated husband, a loyal friend, was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by everyone.
Survivors include his five children, John Schreier of Lehigh, Iowa, Pamela (Michael) Tibbetts of Aloha, Oregon, Nancy Lane of King George, Virginia, Terry (Timothy) O'Grady of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Daniel (Kelly) Schreier of Lincoln, Nebraska, fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one sister, Myrna Jean Pudenz of Auburn, Iowa, two sister-in-laws, Donna Schreier of Tucson, Arizona and Billie Schreier of Fort Dodge, his special friend, Clarine Radenbaugh, of Mesa, Arizona, one aunt and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Schreier, his parents, two brothers, Edwin and Eugene, and one grandson, John.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of his family.
