Edna Mae Will

April 15, 1930 — April 23, 2017

Edna Will, 87, of Ogden, Iowa, and formerly of Boxholm, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Edna's wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton. Rev. Russ Crouthamel and Steve Satre will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Lawn Cemetery in Bolxholm. Visitation will be Friday, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Emanuel Lutheran Church. Edna Mae Swanson was born on April 15, 1930, in Amaqua Township, Boone County, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Mildred (Hammarstedt) Swanson. She graduated with the Lanyon High School class of 1948.

On May 13, 1950, Edna was united in marriage to Paul Wallace Will at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm.

Edna worked at the County ASC Office in Boone, and in the kitchen at the hospital in Fort Dodge. The couple also managed the Rusty Spur Bowling Alley in Dayton and farmed until moving to Ogden in 2007.

Edna was a former member Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm and currently belonged to Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton. She served for over 20 years on the Dayton Rescue Squad. Edna enjoyed watching her great grandchildren play a number of different sports, gardening, field work and fishing. She loved making her world famous potato bologna.

She is survived by her son, Terry (Suzie) Will of Ogden, Iowa; grandchildren, Jason Will of Ogden, Iowa, Chris Neagle (Josie) of Dayton, Iowa, and Danielle Faust of Ogden, Iowa; four great-grandchildren, Mason Will, Kailee Will, Kaelyn Will, and Silas Huskovic all of Ogden, two sisters-in-law, Betty (Dick) Martin of Boone, Iowa, and Bonnie Peters of Humboldt, Iowa; and many cousins and friends, including her friend of over 60 years, Rose Challgren of Dayton, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul on June 13, 2000, two sisters-in- law, Mavis Hull and Diane Will, and three brother-in-law, Charles Will, Dean Peters, and Donald Will, along with many cousins and her paternal and maternal grandparents.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
