Elsie Aquilani

Elsie Theresa Aquilani, 93, of St. Charles, Missouri, and formerly of Ogden, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2014, surrounded by family in St. Charles.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014, at St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden. Father James Bruch will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Ogden. Visitation will be Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Elsie Campani was born on May 18, 1920, in Granger, Iowa, the daughter of Sesto and Giulia (Beneventi) Campani. She graduated from Granger Assumption High School in 1937, and then attended two years of business school. Elsie worked as an office nurse and x-ray technician in Granger, Iowa. She spent time as a store clerk at Pearson's, Beno's Women's Fashions in Boone, and Peachtree Tea Room & Gifts in Ogden.

On December 2, 1950, Elsie was united in marriage to Merico Aquilani at Assumption Catholic Church in Granger, Iowa. The couple lived in Ogden for over fifty years. Currently, Elsie was living in St. Charles, Missouri, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.

Elsie was a former member of St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden, Iowa, where she was very active with the Altar Society and taught first communion classes. Elsie's passions were always family, friends, and cooking. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cottleville, Missouri.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ricci (Barbara) Aquilani and daughter and son-in-law, Laurie (Joseph) Fontanini; five grandchildren, Gina (Tom) Leffelman, Giulia (Matthew) Heying, Joanna (Norm) Thrall, and Ariana and Andrea Aquilani; five great grandchildren, Emily, Allison, and Dominic Heying, Caiden and Carter Thrall; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Merico on March 12, 2002, two brothers, Rico and Harry Campani, sister, Mary Talerico.
