Emily Simpson

Emily Simpson, 30, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 10, 2011, at her home.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at the Leonard Good Community Center in Ogden. David Borsos will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Emily Ann Huen was born on March 23, 1981, in Lake City, Iowa, the daughter of Jack and Sharon (Miller) Huen. She graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1999. She married Richard Titus, Jr. of Boone, IA and they had two beautiful children Brody and Rylee. The couple later divorced. She went on to fulfill a dream of becoming a Nurse and graduated from Hamilton College in Des Moines. On May 16, 2009, Emily was united in marriage to Jason W. Simpson. She was the love of his life, as he was hers. Emily was currently employed as a Charge Nurse at the Stratford Nursing & Rehab Center and had worked in many other area nursing facilities. She enjoyed working with and had great compassion for the elderly.

Emily was an avid fan of Iowa Hawkeye and Pittsburgh Steelers football and enjoyed camping. She loved life and helping people; she was always putting others' needs ahead of her own. Most of all she loved the time spent with her children. Emily will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Jason Simpson of Ogden, Iowa; four children, Rylee, Brody, Scott, and Trista; her father, Jack Huen of Liscomb, Iowa; mother, Sharon and loving step-father, David Otis of Ogden, Iowa; siblings, Sean (Rachel) Huen, and Shelly Eggers of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Brandon (Chante) Huen of Slater, Iowa, Melissa (Randy) Vaught of Dakota City, Iowa, and Brandy Otis of Stratford, Iowa; grandmother, Norma Miller of Lohrville, Iowa and Velma (Jerry) Mason of Marshalltown, Iowa; grandmother, Gretchen Otis of Boone, Iowa; sister-in-law, Melissa (Chris) Povah of Boone, Iowa; mother-in-law, Kathy Simpson (John Goltz) of Mesa, Arizona; grandmother-in-law, Wally Lawhead of Mesa, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers James Huen and Donald Miller; father-in-law, Gary Simpson; and her grandfather-in-law, Donald Lawhead.
