Erma Lester

Erma M. Lester, 97, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at the Perry Lutheran Home.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. Pastor Wade Brandt will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Erma M. Adam was born on September 4, 1917, in Ogden, Iowa, the daughter of Nick and Wiebke (Johannsen). She graduated from Ogden High School in 1935. Erma married Alvis Lester on January 2, 1960, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden.

Erma was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and LWML.

She is survived by her two grandchildren, Tina (Roy) Worthington of Des Moines, Iowa, and Adam Martinez of Des Moines, Iowa; three great grandchildren, Ryan Holloway, Samantha Holloway, and Jacob Worthington; two great-great-grandchildren; three nieces, Nyla Wisecup, Helen Carol Fisher, and Waneta Johnson, and, two nephews Robert Tonsfeldt and Nick Bechard.

Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Alvis in 1998, daughter, Barbara Martinez in 2010, six sisters, Marie Blyth, Emma Wisecup, Helen Wisecup, Christine Ficken, Louise Tonsfeldt and Dorothy Tonsfeldt, and, four brothers, Ted, Carl, Fred and Hugo; several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be left to the Zion Lutheran Church Educational Scholarship Fund or the Sunday school and Preschool programs at Zion Lutheran Church.
