Erma P. Ford, 66, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, died Saturday, January 3, 2009, at Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton.
Erma's body has been cremated. Visitation will be Thursday, January 8, 2009, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Burial of ashes will be held at a later date at McGuire Bend Cemetery, rural Dayton.
Erma Pauline Xanders was born on July 11, 1942, on a farm near Hardy, Iowa the daughter of Edgar and Sarah (Dutcher) Xanders. Erma attended schools in Clarion and graduated from the Clarion High School. Erma was united in marriage to James O. Ford on May 28, 1966. The couple made their home in Webster City where Erma worked as a C.N.A. at local nursing homes. James passed away on January 10, 1979. Erma moved to Fort Dodge in 2000 where she worked as a C.N.A., at Experian Works through Upper Des Moines Opportunities, and later at Congregate Meals.
Erma's favorite pastimes included playing cards, word puzzles, and watching TV game shows. She also enjoyed cooking, cleaning, and most of all spending time with her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Paula George of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Vicky (Tom) Gilbert of Lehigh, Iowa; and one son, Stan (Kathy) Ford of Webster City, Iowa;
17 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; her sister, Evelyn (Ron) Elliott of Webster City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, James Ford.
Memorials may be left to Erma's children.
