Estel Prouty, 89, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017, at the Boone County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. Pastor Curt Fincham will officiate. Burial will be in the Beaver Cemetery. Estel LeRoy Prouty was born on March 26, 1928, in New Rockford, North Dakota, the son of Walter and Doris (Wheeler) Prouty. In 1946, he graduated from the Washington Township High School located south of Perry
Estel was married to Harriet Little and they later divorced.
On December 29, 1956, Estel was united in marriage to LaVerda Mae Russell in Maryville, Missouri.
Following his education, Estel farmed in the Perry/Woodward area and in the evenings worked at John Deere in Ankeny. In December of 1964, Estel and LaVerda moved to Beaver where he worked as an over the road truck driver. After retiring Estel worked at Ag-Serv in Ogden and later helped Jeff build Honey Creek Golf Course in Boone. He was a member of the Ogden Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, LaVerda of Ogden, Iowa; three sons, Jeff (Patty) Prouty of Boone, Iowa, Randy (Pam) Prouty of Boone, Iowa, and Marty (Linda) Prouty of Fraser, Iowa;
10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one sister, Ellen Nelson of Pensacola, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Margaret Malone, and one brother, Ervin Prouty.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
