Eva Marie Byerly passed away from a stroke on February 21st at the Hospice Home in Ft. Dodge. There will be a family gravesite service in Collins, Iowa arranged by Carson-Stapp Funeral Home.
Eva was born on December 13, 1920 to Charles and Alma Clemons. She was raised in rural Story County and graduated from high school in Nevada. She married Edwin Byerly and they raised three daughters. Edwin died in 1960. Eva pursued her degree in Elementary and Special Education, graduating from Drake University. She taught in the Carlisle and Des Moines school systems for many years.
Following Eva's retirement, she moved to Manson and later to Dayton to be near her family. She was a member of the Dayton United Methodist Church.
Eva loved to garden, read and spend time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her three daughters, Shirley Schroeder of Des Moines, Suzanne Hamric of Raleigh, North Carolina and Mary Dick (James) of Dayton. Eva had 6 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Eva is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, sister and grandson.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
