Evelyn E. Kruse, 99, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014, at the Boone County Hospital.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 23, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson – Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. A private family burial will be held Friday at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Rev. Evelyn Edith Burke was born on November 14, 1914, in Salem, South Dakota, the daughter of Elton and Cora (Fishel) Burke. She attended schools in Orient, South Dakota.

On October 5, 1943, Evelyn was united in marriage to Harold "Jake" Kruse in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The couple farmed west of Ogden for many years, until retiring in 1980.

Evelyn belonged to the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden where she was active in U.M.W. She also attended T.O.P.S.

Survivors include two sons, Ron Kruse of Ogden, Iowa, and John (Patsy) Kruse of Ogden, Iowa; two daughters, Mary (Bill) McBirnie of Boone, Iowa, and Cathi Kruse of Ogden, Iowa; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Vivian Johnson of Pierre, South Dakota, Winifred Burke of Miller, South Dakota, and Joan Eggers of Custer, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold "Jake" Kruse on June 1, 1996, five brothers, Merle, Roy, Melvin, Elton, and James Burke; one sister, Alice Kinchloe; and one grandson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
