George D. Teed Jr., 76, of Paton, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
A memorial service for George will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm, Iowa, with Rev. Rod Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Cemetery in rural Boxholm with Graveside Military Rites conducted by the Boone Veteran Council. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. Carson-Stapp Funeral in Ogden has been entrusted with arrangements.
George DelRoy Teed Jr., son of George Sr. and Mary (Stillions) Teed was born on June 29, 1948 at Colfax, Iowa. He attended Colfax Community Schools until he left to join the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. While in the Army, he graduated from military school with his GED. He was honorably discharged on May 13, 1970.
On May 1, 1975, George was united in marriage to Nadine Louise Zollars in Paton, Iowa. To this union, two sons were born: Mickey and James. The couple resided in the Jefferson area until the early 1990’s when they moved to their current home southwest of Boxholm.
George worked for over 35 years as a fulltime Bus Driver for the Boxholm Community Schools. He also started helping out part time as a school custodian which eventually led into a fulltime position.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. He was also a member of the American Legion. George enjoyed fishing, camping, shopping, and going to parades. He also enjoyed his pets which included his dogs, cats, and his Bearded Dragon, Draco. Most of all, George loved spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, George was also preceded in death by his son, James Teed; and his brother, Jackie Teed.
Survivors include his loving wife, Nadine Teed of Paton; his son, Mickey (Erica) Teed of Jefferson; three granddaughters, Izabell, Shianne, and Mersadys Teed; his siblings, Bart, Gloria, and Dickie Teed all of Newton; and in-laws, Martha (Robert) Derry of Guthrie Center, Mary and Nancy Zollars both of Jefferson, Norman (Darlene) Zollars of Jefferson, and Bill (Donna) Zollars of Paton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
