Gerald R. Peterson

Gerald R. Peterson, 71, of Boone, Iowa, died Sunday, September 20, 2009, at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. Pastor Ralph Harmon will officiate. Burial will be in the Pilot Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.

Gerald R. Peterson was born on November 25, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Clyde and Mary (Possnecker) Peterson. He graduated with the Pilot Mound High School class of 1957. In 1972, Gerald was united in marriage to Glennis Olson in Boone, Iowa. The couple had lived in Boone, Ogden, and Pilot Mound. Gerald worked as a custodian for many years at Iowa State University. Glennis passed away in September of 1996. In May of 2008, Gerald moved to the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone.

Gerald was an avid fan of Iowa State Hockey. His favorite pastimes included hunting, trapping, and fishing. He also enjoyed his dogs.

Survivors include his brother, Dennis (Mary) Peterson of Boone, Iowa; nephew, Greg (Mindy) Peterson of Boone, Iowa; two step daughters, Beth and Debbie; cousins, Janice Woods and Vivian (Hud) Lainson both of Des Moines, Iowa; and several step nieces and nephews; as well as other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Glennis Peterson in September of 1996.

Memorials may be directed to the Berean Baptist Church in Boone.
