Geraldene “Gerri” Ray, 74, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. Rev. Dennis Shepherd will officiate. Burial will be in the Pilot Mound Cemetery. Geraldene Kaye Curry was born on October 5, 1946, in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Ronald and Lois (Haase) Curry. She graduated with the Grand Community High School class of 1964.
On August 15, 1964, Gerri was united in marriage to Leo Ray at the Marion Street United Methodist Church in Boone.
Gerri was a homemaker and had also worked at Look Magazine, L & M Gas Station in both Ogden and Boone, as a teacher’s aide at Grand Community Grade School in Pilot Mound, and in housekeeping at the Boone County Hospital.
Gerri enjoyed baking, writing in her journal, shopping at Shoe Carnival, and gambling at Meskwaki Casino! In her younger years she liked trail riding & camping with the Iowa State Trail Rider’s. In the late 70’s, Gerri entered a fundraising contest for Camp Sunnyside (one of her favorite charities), winning the competition and raising the largest amount in Boone County that year. Most of all, Gerri loved her grandchildren and time spent with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Leo Ray of Ogden, IA; four daughters, Teresa (Brad) Brown of Ogden, IA, Brenda (Ted) Davis of St. Joseph, Missouri, Judy Jacobo of Des Moines, IA, and Jodi Ray of Des Moines, IA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Les (Dianne) Curry of Pilot Mound, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
