Glenn Oren, 61, of Boone, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2012, at his home.
Glenn's wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 22, 2012, at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. Rev. Richard Boatman and Rev. Gary Hoyt will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the church. Carson – Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden is serving the family. Glenn Mitchell Oren was born on June 26, 1951, in Seward, Nebraska, the son of Junior and Norma Corpus Oren Lund. Glenn graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1969. He went on to obtain his degrees from Iowa State University, including a PhD in Wood Science. On February 27th, 1989, Glenn married Shelley Melcher. They have three children; Natasha, Joshua, and Jacob.
Glenn was currently serving as a Professor at Mercy College of Health Sciences in Des Moines, IA. He enjoyed fly fishing, bow hunting, reading great literature, spending time with his family, and doing anything that involved being outdoors.
Among the family members he left behind are his wife, Shelley Oren of Boone, Iowa; his three children; Natasha Oren, Joshua Oren, and Jacob Oren; his mother; Norma Lund of Decorah, IA; his two sisters; Mary Lou Cotton and Shirley Lucas; and many other friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his father; Junior Oren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
