Gwen Scheetz

Gwen Marie Scheetz, 83, of Boxholm, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 25, 2011, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. Rev. Rod Meyer will officiate. Burial will be at Lawn Cemetery in Boxholm. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.

Gwendolyn Marie Sundell was born on November 4, 1927, in Boxholm, Iowa, the daughter of Cloyd Sr. and Emma (Peterson) Sundell. She was a graduate of the Boxholm Consolidated High School class of 1945 and went on to attend A.I.B. Business College in Des Moines. Gwen was united in marriage to Jim Scheetz on July 6, 1956, at the Christian Church in Branson, Missouri. The couple had lived in various locations until establishing their home in Boxholm. Gwen worked as a waitress at Westeen's Caf in Boxholm, in the local Post Office, and sold Avon for many years. Jim passed away in 1983.

Gwen was an avid supporter of the Boxholm community. She belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm where she served in many capacities and taught Sunday school for many years. She also hosted a long running Radio Show called Christian Woman Speaks. She enjoyed poetry, puzzles, playing cards, and fishing.

Survivors include her son, Jeff (Jackie) Scheetz of Belton, Missouri; one granddaughter, Brittany Marie (Kerry) Lynch; three great-grandchildren, Kambrie, Kannon, and Kale; one sister, Donna (Bob) Stark of Fort Dodge, Iowa; a brother, Bill (Janene) Sundell of Humboldt, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. Jeff and Jackie also have three four-legged children, and Gwen was especially fond of Towser. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Scheetz; and one brother, Cloyd Sundell Jr.

Memorials may be left to Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm.
