Harold Fred Lambert, 85, of Dayton, Iowa, died Wednesday morning, May 18, 2011, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Lanyon, Iowa. Pastor Marc Murchison will officiate. Burial will be at the Lost Grove Cemetery by Harcourt, Iowa. Visitation will be at the Lanyon church Friday, May 20th; from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton, Iowa.
Harold Fred Lambert was born on January 26, 1926, near Dayton, Iowa, the son and youngest child of Fred and Jennie Lambert who were first generation immigrants from Sweden. He graduated with the Dayton High School class of 1945. On December 21, 1945, he married Lois Olson; they were married 65 years. To this union, four children were born: Bruce, Bill, Brian, and Sandi. Harold has been a farmer his entire life and has enjoyed his time producing crops, raising animals, and driving John Deere tractors.
Harold was an active member at the Lanyon Evangelical Covenant Church where he enjoyed fellowship and services all of his life. Harold's life revolved around acquiring and cultivating the land around him. He was affectionately known as 'Happy Harold' to his family and loved to spend time with his 4 children, 13 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 3 step great-grandchildren. He always had Hershey's Kisses and regular kisses around to share with all his family.
He was preceded in death recently by one son, Bill Lambert of Dayton, Iowa. Also preceding him were his parents, Fred and Jennie Lambert, brother Art, sisters LaVerna Lipp and Eileen Peters.
He is survived by his wife Lois; son Bruce (Joan) of Dayton, Iowa; daughter-in-law Cari Lambert of Dayton; son Brian (Kathy) of Dayton, Iowa; and daughter Sandi (Steve) Ward of Ames, Iowa. Also, he is survived by one brother Clarence (Gladys) Lambert of Fort Dodge and one sister Evelyn Shaw of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
