Harry H. Lass, 99, of Ogden, Iowa, died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at the Boone County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. Rev. Stephen Ude will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.
Harry Hans Lass was born on March 13, 1910, on the family farm northwest of Ogden, Iowa, the son of Hans and Anna (Jochimsen) Lass. He attended the country school near his home. Harry was united in marriage to Lettie D. Seeman on May 6, 1931, in Des Moines. The couple established their home on the family farm in Amaqua Township, northwest of Ogden, where they farmed. Upon retiring in 1975 they moved into Ogden. Lettie passed away on January 26, 2005.
Harry belonged to Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. He enjoyed crafts, caring for his plants, and visiting with friends at the coffee shop.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce (Jack) Robinson of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Linda Madgett of Omaha, Nebraska; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 73 years, Lettie Lass; five sisters, three brothers, and two siblings in infancy.
Memorials may be left to Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden.
